About Chautauqua Dog Love
“Chautauqua Dog Love” comes to you in the voice of a wishful pooch daydreaming of adventures in this picturesque Western New York community.
Much to a child’s delight, several sweet dogs are highlighted. Although the lead character imagines many wonderful Chautauqua activities to pursue, the joy of making new friends becomes her most treasured Chautauqua experience.
Pam Spremulli's vibrant, colorful illustrations of Chautauqua's scenes and its lovable canines enrich this ode to a beloved place and time.
About the Author
Lorrie Happ grew up in western Pennsylvania, earning a B.A. in Journalism, before beginning a career in news writing, followed by corporate writing. Lorrie loves the outdoors and the arts, and was fortunate to experience Chautauqua as a child and as a mom.
During a visit that included the family’s pups, the idea of a dog’s eye view of the surroundings and activities took hold. The opportunity to feature this perspective and spotlight Chautauqua experiences was irresistible.
The endeavor flourished through Lorrie's partnership with illustrator Pam Spremulli. Together, they created a light-hearted pause in a child’s day and a conversation-sparking souvenir for those with Chautauqua memories to share and make anew.
